Friends Only - Comment to be added

Hi, and welcome to the insanity known as my life!

Well, let's see....

I'm 33, Male and I'm from England. I'd like to think I'm a nice friendly kinda guy. I enjoy movies, sports, TV, relaxing, having a good time and computers. I work as an IT Service Desk Analyst for an outsourcing IT services company, and spend way too much time messing around with computers - I'm usually the one called upon if anything goes wrong with them, and I've helped both friends and family with any of their computer problems!

I'm married to flucked_up_girlNic, and we got married in November 2002.
We live in a 3 bedroom house just outside Northampton with our little Yorkshire Terrier, Benny.

This journal is friends only, and finally, this journal is a drama free zone, and I'd like to keep it that way - so please don't bring any here, thank you!

A *rare* public post

I'm sticking my head above the parapet for once, as there's something that needs to be said.

I've always tried, ever since I've been online, to be a good friend to people, and for the most part, I think I've succeeded.

However, there have been 3 events in the last few months, with 3 different people, that's made me question exactly how people see 'me' as a person.

I think I'm a good person, yeah, I have faults, but, hey, no one is perfect.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is, if I've ever done anything wrong with anyone, whatever it is, then it's not been done with any harm intended.

I've never filtered any posts that I've made that people on my friends list on here can't see, and I'm not about to start now, as I firmly believe that I have nothing to hide, and that if I've trusted people enough to read my entries, then I shouldn't 'hide' anything.

Is it too much to expect the same from people on my friends list? I don't think so, but on 3 separate occasions in the last 6 months, it's happened to me, and I'm mystified to know what I ever did wrong to the 3 people concerned.

If anyone's read this far, then thank you for listening.

I'm seriously considering taking an extended break from LJ again, as I have had enough of people doubting my intentions.

That's all for now.

As of the next post - this journal is going friends only again - due to continued abuse.
If your not on my friends list, and want to continue reading, leave a comment here and I may add you.

Just a quickie....

Just a quick post to say happy birthday to webkin as it's her birthday today.

Today's been good, we've gone to Nic's parents for the day, and had a game of Ten Pin bowling at Newmarket, which was all good fun, I was last, as usual, but we all enjoyed ourselves, which is the main thing.

Gonna be heading back home soon, so I'll finish up here.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

Well, it's Monday, the start of another week at work.

The weekend's been good, so hopefully this week will continue in the same vein, I'm hoping it won't be too busy, but, I'll just haveta wait and see.

Thank you to everyone who's done my poll that I posted in my last post, it's interesting to see just how much people think their journal reveals about them.

Before I go, I'd like to wish a happy birthday to apb who's birthday it is today, hope you have a brilliant day.

And that, as they say, is all for now.

More soon,

Ian (vj)
Hmmm, haven't done a poll in a while, and I figured I'd do this one for my own curiosity... so here goes:-

A little update

Well, I haven't updated in a few days, and a fair bit has happened.

On Friday, we all got our pay review letters, as everyone was individually called into the office to get them - quite a lot came out screwing the letters up and generally not being happy (as they either hadn't got a raise, or didn't get as much as they hoped).

I was one of the last to get called in, so I wondered what news my letter would bring, and luckily, it was good news, as I got a 6% pay rise, which works out as an £800 increase for the year. so as you can probably guess, I was more than happy with that!

The even better news is, there's a good chance that I may get a bonus in June, so if I do, I'll be very happy, but until it happens, I remain cautious.

In the evening, Nic and I went to Tesco's in Northampton to get the weekly shopping, and we also got a bottle of Vanilla Coca-Cola to try, must admit, it was very nice!

Today we've been down my parents, as it's my sister's 26th birthday today (Sunday, as it is now) where we watched the football and the Grand National (for those not in the UK, the Grand National is a very famous horse race), and my mum managed to pick the winner :)

Mum also bought us a coffee table for our front room via an auction channel on the TV, was pretty cheap too, at only £21 (was valued at around £130), and we also got given a towel rail for our bathroom.

We've got Nic's mum, dad and sister coming here later too, so that promises to be a good day also.

All in all, it's been a good weekend up to this point!

Anyway, that's all from me, more soon.

Ian (vj)
Oh dear, looks like yet another LJ password scam is underway again - for details, check THIS post from the LJ News journal.

Anyway, another day begins, gonna head off to work in 10 minutes, so I wonder what today will bring?

Hope you all have a good day.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

Good day

Well today's been a pretty good day, following an eventful evening last night.

Basically, last night we ordered a pizza from Dominos Pizza around 9pm, and normally, it gets here about 30 mins later - an hour went past, and still no pizza. Nic then phoned them up and the guy explained that they had only *just* received the order (as we'd ordered them online), so as compensation, they agreed to reduce the cost and give us a free garlic pizza bread, so we thought, okay, it's gonna be here by 10.30.... 11pm comes around.. still no pizza. Nic rang up again, and was told that the driver was on his way (he'd left 15 mins before). Then, literally 5 minutes later we get a phone call back from Dominos - the driver had been assaulted by a group of lads prior to making our delivery, so he'd taken the pizzas back to the shop. So, by way of compensation, they made a fresh order out to us, including the extra garlic bread pizza, and delivered it tonight free of charge, so that was a bit of a result.

Work was pretty good today, in spite of the fact we were two people down due to sickness, but we coped, which was the main thing, even so though, I was glad when 5 o'clock came around so I could get home.

Tonight I've watched the football on TV, and had a bath, so I'm nice and refreshed ready for going back to work in the morning.

Also, happy birthday to jeweleee hope you've had a good day.

Before I go though, I figured I haven't posted a pic of me in my LJ for a bit, so after the cut, is a pic of me taken from my web cam a little while ago:-
It's only me!Collapse )

Anyway, that's all for now, more soon.

Ian (vj)

It's too damn early!

Oh well, morning everyone, hope everyone's doing OK?

As for myself, well, I'm fine, work yesterday went pretty well, as it wasn't too busy, and the weekend was very good, as well as being a nice break for us both. The last few weekends actually have been nice, as we've always done at least something over the weekend, as opposed to saying here all weekend. We've even got this weekend coming up planned out all ready too (us, organised - yeah!). Basically we're going to my mum's on Saturday, as it's my sisters birthday on Sunday, and on Sunday itself, Nic's parents are coming here, as Nic's dad wants to watch something on the TV, namely, his football team playing in a cup final - and as it's only being shown on Sky, which they don't have, they're coming here to watch it.

Other than that, last night was nice and relaxing, we did all our jobs, with Nic doing the rubbish bags ready for the bin collection today, and me doing the washing up, and we watched a bit of TV ( Monday night is definitely Nic's night - 2 hours solid of soaps!) before coming on the PC's for a bit.

Anyway, that's enough of my ramblings for now, best carry on getting ready for work.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

Feeling Better

Well hey ho everyone.

You'll be pleased to hear that I'm feeling a little better today, I've spent most of today relaxing as I've been off work again. I spoke to my mum last night and she reckons there's a bug going round at the moment, so I reckon that's what's done it - tho I've now had it 2 weeks running, which is a little worrying.

I've been trying today to comment on peoples entries on LJ - thing is tho, I never know what to say, I mean, I do read all the entries on my friends page, but, I dunno, I always feel that unless I've got something to say, then I don't comment.

I know you should never base your friends list on here by how many comments you get, but I'll admit it's nice sometimes to get a comment every once in a while from people so that you know that they are reading what you say.

Tomorrow Nic and I are off to Nic's mum's for a Mother's day thing as Nic's Uncle, cousin, nan and Tom are going, and then on Sunday, we're going to a Charity celebrity football match in Cambridge - the information being HERE so that should be a good laugh :)

Anyway, that's all for now, more soon.

Random Yahoo Messages = Annoying!

I'm still feeling crappy :(

I've been feeling mainly crappy....

I woke up this morning with an utterly blinding headache - it was so bad that it was making me dizzy so I made an immediate decision not to travel down to work today, as my big fear was having an accident on the way down (and on a 42 mile journey to work I have every morning - I wasn't risking it) so I've been in bed most of the day.

Both of our mothers received their mothers day flowers this morning that Nic ordered earlier in the week, OK they've got them early, but at least they've got them, and we've been told that the bunch of flowers they got was huge enough to fit in 2 vases! But, seeing as it's down to their love and support that Nic and I find ourselves in this house, we figured that it was about time we did something back to say thank you.

Anyway, I just plan to relax tonight and see how I feel in the morning with regards going into work, if I still feel rough, then I'm not gonna go in.

That's all for now, more soon,

Ian (vj)
gahhhh It's toooooo early

Anyway, not much to say, except to say:-

Hope your having a brilliant birthday

Gotta go to work soon, fun huh?

More soon,

Ian (vj)
I've finally got to reboot my machine, but, it's done well really :)

Webcams, fun times and Birthdays

First of all, many happy returns to Cass (amarettochick), hope you have a great birthday!

Well last night was enormous fun!

Nic and I were talking to the ever wonderful Andrea (expressomaniac) on Yahoo with our webcams on, where we were having our usual nightly (or morning in Andrea's case) chat, when my chair suddenly gave way from underneath me, tipping me on the floor - must admit it hurt at the time, but both Nic and Andrea were laughing their heads off over it, but luckily, I'm now using my new office chair at my PC desk now, so it's not too bad. We all had a good laugh during the evening with our chat, with Andrea at several stages going into fits of laughter because we were all messing about so much.

I'm off to work soon (in about 20 minutes), so here's hoping today will be a good day for me *fingers crossed*

Hope everyone else who reads this is doing just fine too.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

@ Work

Hey ho, it's an update from work.

Well, this weekend's been lovely, very relaxing and Nic and I have throughly enjoyed it.

Nic got her new mobile on Saturday, and of course me, being the geek that I am, just had to have a good look at it. Thing was, it wasn't set up for GPRS and MMS, so a quick phone call to O2 Tech support (and they even let me deal with it, even though it's Nic's phone) got that sorted. It's a nice phone, and it has all the features Nic was after.

Anyway, yesterday we went to Nic's nan's for lunch, as well as to sort out the GPS satelite navigation system Tom (Nic's nan's husband) had bought for his car, but I got it sorted in the end, took about 2 hours tho!

After that we went to Nic's aunt's house for a bit, before heading over to Nic's mum's to see if I could fix their PC, which I couldn't as the power supply, I think, has gone faulty, before heading home, arriving back around 9.30.

We both had a fitful nights sleep last night, as our phone handset kept ringing for no reason during the night - either the handsets are faulty, or I need to check the ADSL filters again, which I'll do when I get home tonight.

Work today's not been too busy, thank god, so that's not too bad. Roll on 5pm tho!

Anyway, that's enough from me for now, more soon.

Ian (vj)

Test entry from Nic's phone

Mar. 17th, 2003

Is anyone else having problems viewing comments pages tonight?

Nic and I both see that we have, say 2 comments, we go to the comments page and only one is there? We have to CTRL-Refresh to see all the comments... weird!

Well hey ho, time for an update.

Well, today at work's been reasonable, I got to finish a little earlier as Nic needed me here to collect something, I obviously have to make the time up, of course, but it was nice all the same to be home at 5, and not at 6.30 for a change.

The weather today has been lovely, nice and sunny, shame really that I was stuck indoors for most of it, with the added annoyance of the air con at work pumping hot air into the system, basically meaning that we were all boiling!

Anyway, I've got in, and had a lovely cooked dinner courtesy of my darling wife, which was nice. I washed up after and Nic did the rubbish out ready for the bin men to come tomorrow, there was tons of rubbish in this (computer room) alone!

As well as that, tonight I've cancelled our Freeserve dial up account, seemed a bit silly having it now we have broadband, so if any of you have my Freeserve address, don't use it from now on! If you don't have my current e-mail address, and you want it, then ask me for it!

Anyway, we're just gonna relax for the rest of the night!

More soon

Webcams, PC's and meets

Evening all,

Well, it's been a few days since the last update, so I figured I'd post again.

Got back home on Friday night after my week away at my mum's. it was a very weird week, but a nice break all the same.

Anyway, yesterday was a productive day, we paid in the cheque from the police following the damage they caused to the house, we also went shopping in Northampton too, which was good, as we'd never been there before to shop, and we also got some electricity cards for our pre-pay meter.

In the evening, I finally got round to sorting out my webcam on my PC, which had caused me no end of trouble since I bought it last weekend. In the end, I reinstalled Windows and restored some system files and it's now working, and the image quality, compared to my last cam, is superb. The comparison is behind the cut:-

Old and new camCollapse )

Anyway, today we went and met up with Katy (webgirluk) in Stevenage for a meal and a few drinks, as she was visiting her sister, we all had a good time, as after the meal we went into Hollywood Bowl where we had a few games of Air Hockey and 2 games of 3 player Ferrari F355 Challenge (which I won :) )

After we said our good byes to Katy, we headed to my mum's for a bit, and got some of my old videos from there, as well as an electric tin opener, which I'm sure will be put to some good use!

Anyway, that's all from me for now, more soon.

Ian (vj)

At Mum's

Well, this is weird!

I'm at my mum's now, and Nic is at her's waiting for her hospital appointments over the next couple of days. It's *really* strange that we're apart, but the way I look at it is, it's only 3 days, and if it helps Nic's health, then it'll be worth it.

Today's been spent mainly looking at PC's! We went to Nic's nan's for lunch, as Tom (Nic's nan's husband) has just bought an iPaq with a satellite navigation kit (why is beyond me, but still....) and he wanted me to help him set it up on his PC, which I've done, and he generously gave me £10 to cover my petrol.

We also had lunch there too, so that was nice.

After that, we headed to Nic's parents, where I set up their broadband that they had installed last week (why hadn't it been set up before... because NTL hadn't given them the PIN number....) Anyway, I got that done, so its working, before heading here around 6pm.

Got here at 7.30ish, and had a nice bath and hairwash, so I'm nice and relaxed ready for going back to work tomorrow... it'll be weird sleeping in my old bed tonight too!

Anyway, that's all for now. More soon.

Ian (vj)

Just got myself a new webcam, the Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000, so I'm just gonna set that up now!

@ Work

Well, the air con in here is still knackered, so I'm still boiling!

Work today's going quite well, had my review earlier and the boss is pleased with my progress, he's even trying to get me on some training courses as I've said what I'd like to go on to do here.

Other than that, I'm fine, had a LONG sleep yesterday, and I felt much, much better for it.

Hope you're all well

More soon

Ian (vj)

@ Work

I'm boiling :(

Thank god I finish in 10 minutes, coz I dunno how much more of this heat in here I can stand.

Basically, our air con at work is knackered, and I'm overheating... I've just had two *cold* cups of water to cool me off.

Roll on hometime!

More soon.

First off - happy birthday to dizalove, hope you're having an absolutely excellent birthday.

Speaking of birthdays, yesterday I had my birthday meal, with my parents, sister, her boyfriend, my Grandma and Grandad, my Auntie Sylvia, Uncle Dave, my cousin Robert, Nic's mum & dad, Tracy (Nic's sister) and her nan and her husband Tom.

It was an excellent, if very filling, meal and I think we all enjoyed ourselves, I even got a cake too, whch was a nice surprise, as well as receivinga £25 gift voucher for Dixons from Nic's mum and dad, which I'm sure will be used by the end of this week :) I also got £10 from Nic's nan and Tom, as well as some tops from my sister, a mug from my mum and dad (although my main present is going to be a power shower for the house - they are still trying to get that) and a DVD of 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' from my darling wife, which was nice of her cause she knows it's my favourite film.

The last few days have been immense fun, we've been chatting a lot to expressomaniac and her husband Tim timdapup via Yahoo, and as we both have cams and microphones, we can see and hear each other, we always, always have a good laugh. It's a shame really that they are so far away, as it'd be nice to meet them in real life. ah well, maybe one day (when we win the lotto maybe) lol

Today we're just gonna relax, seeing as I've got work again tomorrow, plus there's also football (Worthington Cup) on the TV, so I'll be waching that later.

Anyway, that's all for now. More soon.

Ian (vj)
Well, I've had a fun birthday up till this point, and no, I'm not being sarcastic... much.

We've had our ADSL enabled today, which when it works, is excellent, however it keeps dropping the line every hour or so, I've spoken to BT Technical support who advised me to try reconnecting the micro filter, which I have, but it did it again. I'm wondering if it's coz it's a USB modem connected via a USB hub... I know the modems take up a LOT of the USB port bandwidth... Eventually I'll upgrade the hardware to an Ethernet ADSL modem, so that *hopefully* will sort the problem.

Thank you to everyone who's wished me a happy birthday today, whether it be via comments in my own journal or posts in their own.

Off to mothers soon, as I have the hospital in the morning, so hopefully that will go well.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Yes, I'm now officially the big 30 :)

Shock - Horror, it's a post from me....

Yeah, I know, it's been a while since my last LJ post, I bet most of you thought I'd deserted LJ for good.

Well, I haven't, as you can plainly see :)

You will have noticed, however, that I've cut my LJ usage right back, I think this is only my... 3rd entry this month? The last time I took a break this long from LJ was right at the beginning, but then I did have the excuse of having a broken elbow at the time :)

Soooo, what's been happening here?

Well, at the weekend just gone, we had our parents come and visit us here, and during the day, we got a lot of jobs done, including setting up our computer room, so we now have a permanent home for them, instead of in the living room where they've been for the last 2 and a half months. This weekend we'll be collecting another desk from my mum's so that we can connect the other PC up. Also, we pulled an all-nighter on Saturday nite, which was spent cleaning and talking to expressomaniac, where we both had our webcams on, which was a good laugh.

As well as that, we've ordered ADSL for here, which is due to be enabled next Thursday, which as I'm sure most of you know, is my 30th birthday, so that'll be a nice present for me :)

I did something a bit silly this morning, my alarm didn't go off for some bizarre reason, and it was only because Nic woke me up at 8.05 that I knew... thing is, I start at 8... whoops....!

I hurriedly phoned my boss and explained what happened, luckily he was pretty good about it, but I felt so embarrassed! I eventually got to work at 10am, some 2 hours late!

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and happy and all that good stuff.

I'll finish here for now. More soon.

Ian (vj)

Well, it's the beginning of another fun packed week at work.

The good thing was, that today wasn't busy, even more so than normal, due to the fact that the contract we support is based in the Highlands of Scotland (which had 9 inches of snow overnight), so of course, rather like what happened here at the tail end of last week, people didn't bother going into work.

I also got the job of training someone new to our desk, and here's a superb bit or irony. The same person I had to train today, was the same person who trained me when I worked on my previous (less technical) helpdesk back in August, funny huh?

Got home at 6.30, and cooked dinner for both Nic and I. We had a Ham and Cheese slice, a Rosti (potato/onion cake thingy), some Mini Kiev's and some waffle chips, which actually turned out better than I thought they would, as I'm never too convinced by my cooking skills, as I think I'm crap at it, but never mind.

Watched the 'Living with Michael Jackson' documentary tonight too, as I was a big fan of his a while back, and I must admit it did really show how weird he's become down the years, which is a shame really, as he's really made some good music.

Just like Nic has, I've also made an effort today to clear out my old e-mail, and I got it from over 600 e-mails down to 87, which for me is good, as I've never been brilliant at keeping my e-mail down to a sensible level. Least now Outlook Express is opening a damn sight quicker than it was before!

I've also written my letter to the Northants Police with the receipts for my door, the total bill, when I added it all up, is £855, so I'm hoping that we'll get it all back, as it's money both Nic and I could do with having, that's for sure.

Anyway, that's enough of my rambling for now, more soon,

Ian (vj)

Feb. 1st, 2003

I had my hair cut yesterday, and the following pictures (behind the cut) are the result:-

My hairCollapse )

The weather & this week

Well, here's a little summary of all that's happened over the last week:-

As I'm sure many of you are aware, last Friday we had a 'visit' from the Northamptonshire Police force, basically what happened was that they broke down the door, as they had a warrant to search the place. (which was in the previous owners name). They managed to break not only our door locks, but split the door frame and damaged the door. We had a temporary repair done last Friday night, which meant we had at least one lock, but we both didn't feel safe. Anyway, on Monday we arranged for the door to be fixed, which it eventually was on Wednesday afternoon. The total damage amounted to one new door, door frame and new 5 lever mortice lock, so at least now we're more secure. I had to take off 3 days off of work because of it tho, plus it's (initially, as we're claiming it back) cost us nearly £800 in the repair of the door, not cheap!

Anyway, I went back to work yesterday, and as most of you in the East of the UK know, there was a heavy snowfall around the area I work in, some 3 inches of snow fell in a couple of hours, so they let me finish at 4pm.

Thing was, because of the conditions, I only managed to get a mile away from my work in 2 and a half hours, and didn't get back here until 9:15pm, some 5 hours later, compared to the usual journey time of 90 minutes.

My parents had knightmare journeys home from work too, my dad took 3 hours to go 4 miles, and my mum took 4 hours to get home from work (and she's only 3-4 miles away), which makes my journey (which is 42 miles) seem very quick!

I made an attempt to go in this morning, but as soon as I got to Bedford, I realized that continuing would have been stupid and dangerous, so I turned round and came straight back home. The irony is, we have no snow here whatsoever!

Anyway, that's all for now, more soon.

Ian (vj)

Nic's new hair

Well, Nic had her hair cut today, and here's the result:-

I love this woman :)

Well, today's been a reasonably good day.

Finally got my car MOT'd at our local AA Service Centre in Northampton this afternoon, fully expecting it to be failed on something, as very rarely does a car of mine get through an MOT without at least one fault, but, to my utter amazement, it passed, so that's one less thing I've gotta worry about now.

The good thing was, that as I'm an AA member, I got a 10% discount on the MOT, so that was a bit of a bonus.

Also did a bit of tiding up round here too, so the house is looking a little bit more presentable.

The Liverpool trip last week was excellent, it was a break both all_in_a_blur and I needed, and we also got to meet up with jeweleee and tep too, which was nice as we hadn't met them previously before.

Oh well, back to work tomorrow, I wonder what delights lie in wait....

Anyway, that's all for now, more soon

Ian (vj)

In Liverpool

Well, we've arrived safe and sound in Liverpool ready for the tour of the Liverpool FC ground tomorrow.. The journey went very well, it only took us just over 3 and a half hours, including a stop near Birmingham.

The hotel's nice too!

Been an entertaining evening, as I phoned gingertabby for the first time, which was a good laugh, though I'm sure she now thinks we're completely insane! Was nice chatting to her though. I always think it's nice to speak to friends you meet online in person, as it makes the friendship more 'normal', if you know what I mean.

As well as the stadium tour tomorrow we're also going to meet up with jeweleee and tep, which should be good also.

Anyway, that's all for now, more soon.

Happy birthday to nita_01nitaFran</font>

Hope you have a great birthday!

Off to bed said sleepyhead

Right... nearly time to say g'nite... yeah, I'm actually going to bed at 10.30, shocker, huh?

G'nite all.

PS Either... my connection's been crap tonight, or LJ is running slow again....

Relaxing Evening

Mmmmmmmm all_in_a_blur has just gone and put some Shake and Vac on our living room carpet and I must admit it smells lovely in here now.

Also, I've just gone and put some clothes in the tumble dryer that Nic washed earlier, so they should be nice and dry soon. Also, I have to compliment my wife on the lovely dinner she cooked too, I had grilled chicken breast, roast potatoes and 2 yorkshire puddings, and it was absolutely delicious.

As far as the tidying mission Nic and I set today, we got the kitchen clean, and did a fair bit of this room. Next weekend we're aiming to get all our clothes organised, as at the moment, there's clothes everywhere (from when we moved out of Nic's mum's)

We will get this house the way we want it, just might take a while, that's all.

Sorry for the rather boring post, but, I just felt like writing again.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

I did write a longish entry earlier... but the laptop died before I posted it.. so I'll not bother redoing it.

Happy birthday to hammerizeduk, I hope you've had an excellent day, tho from what I've been reading from girliebomb's journal, it looks as though you have ;)

Oh well, another weekend is almost over, and back to work tomorrow I go, but luckily, it's only a 2 day week this week, as I have the Liverpool football trip on Wednesday this week, so that should be good, also we're possibly gonna be meeting up with jeweleee and tep on Thursday night while we're up there, so that should be good.

As for me, well, I'm fine, nice and relaxed after a nice weekend here at home.

Hope everyone else is fine too?

Anyway, that's all from me for now, more soon.

Hey ho

Afternoon all, just a little update to let you all know I'm still around.

Work is still going well, however the traveling I have to do every day is really starting to drain me physically. However, I'm gonna apply for a job nearer home, so hopefully that will make my life so much easier!

At the moment I'm at Nic's mum's, as Nic has a doctors appointment this afternoon, and then we'll be heading home later tonight.

The weekend promises to be a nice relaxing one, as we've got no plans, so it'll be nice to spend time on our own, as this'll be the first weekend since the wedding that we don't have stuff to do!

Next week I've only got to work 2 days, as I'm off to Liverpool to see the football ground, which Nic got me for Christmas!

Anyway, that's all from me for now. More soon.

Evening all

Well, it's meeeeeee

Just done a little tidy up of my friends list on here, as it appears that people have decided to take me off again, ah well, never mind. Least now I know who does/doesn't read my ramblings. To be honest, the whole how many friends on your friend list thing doesn't bother me anymore, if people wanna read, they'll read, and if they don't, they don't, no skin off my beak.

Well, I know I've not been the most active of LJ'ers over the last few weeks, which has mainly been down to the fact that I've not felt the 'need' to write. I dunno, tonight I'm in the mood to write.

I didn't do my review of the year on New Years Eve either, so I figure it's high time I reviewed the year, compared to THIS post from New Years Eve 2001.

So, here we go:-

So, here's my personal review of this year:-

Bit of an upheaval work wise over the last year, I changed roles at my workplace 3 times this year, but generally it's been a good year at work

Must admit that all_in_a_blur and I have had our ups and downs during various points of this year again, and there's been various points where we've had our feelings stretched to breaking point, but, somehow, we've made it through the year, plus this years ended on a big high as Nic and I are now married, which was a very special moment for me!

As supportive as ever, they've always been there for me, and always will be, I hope :)

Bit of an upheaval year on the home front too, but, at least at the end of the year, we realised our dream of being homeowners. At the start of the year, we were living in the flat, which in the end got us down so much it was a relief to move out. I then had the strange experience of living with Nic's parents for 5 months, before finally, in November, we moved into the 3 bedroom house we're currently in.

This year was a year of meeting people for the first time for Nic and I, or revisiting people that we've met before. Over the year, we met up with:-

moosical & thelovebug who also did us the honour of being our Maid of Honour and Best Man at our wedding.

webkin & aaronr down in Bath, which was a fun couple of days!

nuttystar who we met in Windsor along with Dave and Caroline - hopefully we'll get to meet you again this year Sam!

girliebomb who we met at her birthday bash earlier in the year, although admittedly, we didn't speak much, coz of the noise - hopefully at some point during this year we'll meet again, in a quieter enviornment!

echo_uk and niterobin who we met up with several times during the year, here's hoping that the two of you continue to be happy together.

webgirluk who we met for the first time a week before our wedding in Stevenage, and we had a brilliant time. We'll definately have to meet up again!

Hopefully this year we may meet some more of you, you never know!

This time last year, I had 3 major plans... this is how I did:-

1. Hopefully get a new job. Still looking - Unfortunately :(

2. Move into a proper house! Achieved that aim - and I'm so happy we did

and most importantly:-

3. Get married The best day of my life - ever

This year, the new job is still a major plan, as well as settling into our new life as a married couple. We even have a holiday in Great Yarmouth in May to look forward to.

To all of you I wish you all the best for the coming year ahead.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

It's hard to think....

That it's been a month since I've been married.

And you know what? I wouldn't swap Nic for anything.

I just know that she's the woman for me, she always has been, and always will be, and when she said 'I do' a month ago, I felt like the luckiest guy alive.

Our futures are linked, the bad times, hopefully have passed, and we can look forward to a long and happy marriage together, as quite frankly, I never wanna let her go, ever.

To Nic, I say this. I love you hunny, and I wanna be with you forever.

Before I go, I'd just like to wish each and everyone of you a happy, healthy and safe New Year.. just in case I don't update tomorrow.

More soon,

Ian (vj)
Happy Christmas everyone!

Hope you're all having a fantastic day!

It's very nearly...

(Well, in 20 minutes anyway!)

Found out today that I've gotta work the whole day on Christmas Eve, which is a pain, but the good thing is, I get next Friday off instead, so effectively I'm only in 2 days next week, good huh?

Anyway, I'm off home at 6. and should be home around 7.30 as usual, and after dinner we're heading off to my mother's, as we are staying overnight tonight, so that'll be good.

Today's been really quiet at work, we even had the fire alarm go off about 10am, and we were all stood outside for 40 minutes while 3(!) fire engines turned up.

Turned out to be a problem with the lift motor in the end, but standing outside in the freezing cold was something I really could have donw without.

Anyway, that's all for now.

More soon,

Ian (vj)

To my wife

Why am I getting answerphones on the house phone AND on your mobile!
Happy 1st wedding anniversary to thelovebug and moosical

The first of many, that I'm sure of.
